The Process

Sixty-five percent of those surveyed describe themselves as “very” or “insanely” busy.

For most people, clearing out a home is an incredibly stressful undertaking. No matter if you’ve lived in your home for one year or twenty, most people need help preparing for a sale, settling in to a new space, or just improving your home’s functionality. Sorting through your items can be a time-consuming, emotional task that can feel impossible to complete. Whether you are relocating for a new job, moving to accommodate a growing family, or downsizing, the details can be taxing and exhausting.

Time to call for some help.

With some planning, prioritizing, and execution, I’ll turn a daunting task into a manageable one. While everyone’s situation will be slightly different, here is a general overview of what to expect:

Prep –

We’ll meet to discuss your individual needs and how best to prepare your home. With your goals in mind, we will develop a plan, a priorities list, and a timeline that fits your schedule. If additional resources are required (packing materials, containers, even storage units) we can add them to the plan as well.

Sort & Pack –

Next, I’ll work on clearing major areas – countertops, closets, guest rooms, office spaces – paring down to the necessities and allowing you to see and use the beautiful elements of your home.

I will help you sort your items into categories, separating the stuff you need every day from what can go into storage. Other things can be temporarily stowed if the home is being shown, or removed entirely until you are comfortably re-situated. Working one-on-one with you, room by room, we will consolidate and clear surfaces. Unwanted items will be removed and donated or junked. Things going to storage will be packed, labeled, and transported. I will review with you how to prepare your home last minute (for an open house or when company arrives), and develop a checklist for getting it ready. If you are selling your home, the remaining items will be packed and sent on to the next place.

Settle in –

Once the movers have left, I will help unpack and get you situated quickly and comfortably in your new home. Leaving no box unopened, we will find a place for all of your items in your new space, and set you up with some organizing systems so you can keep your home in order for the long term.
